Let Love Grow: Part 2 - Partnering with Lifeline Assembly of God Church

After Avia presented the first cleaning kit to the FBHA, it was Sophia's turn to present her kit to our next community partner. Our second community partner we presented to was the Lifeline Assembly of God church. Sophia represented the both of us and presented the kit to Pastor Jerry Tua, the senior pastor of the church. Lifeline Assembly of God is open to anyone who wishes to receive the word of the Lord, whether they are new or returning to the church. Sophia attends this church herself and wanted to support the younger children going there with her through our project. Thank you, Lifeline Assembly of God, for continuing the Let Love Grow project!

Let Love Grow: Part 2 - Partnering with the Fort Bliss Homeschool Association

We wanted our cleaning kits to primarily help kids between the ages of two weeks old to 13 years old. Our first community partner we presented to was the Fort Bliss Homeschool Association. Avia represented the both of us and presented the kit to Mrs. Gabriella Long-Olmos, the board president of FBHA, this month. The FBHA supports active duty military families and retiree families in the El Paso and the Fort Bliss area who homeschool their children. Avia is a former homeschooler herself and wanted to help other homeschoolers through our project. Thank you, Fort Bliss Homeschool Association, for continuing the Let Love Grow project!

Let Love Grow: Part 2 - Creating the Kit

After our little shopping trip, we had to actually create our eco-friendly cleaning kits. Avia took lead with sewing some reusable towels and creating the instructions for them. I had fun conducting my own home science experiment creating non-toxic cleaning solutions using recipes I found online. I also created the instructions folders for the kits.

Let Love Grow: Part 2 - Shopping Trip

We shifted gears by the end of spring to keep our project sustainable through a more practical method. We have dubbed it Let Love Grow: Part 2, which is a cleaning kit that consists of non-toxic chemicals. First on our to-do list: Shopping!

Let Love Grow: February

Just like January, the spider plant was under the care of our other amazing Girl Scout Sophia for the entire month of February. This was the last month of the initial Let Love Grow program, though that does not mean it has finished forever. As the last caretaker of the spider plant (for now!), Sophia had this to say: February 1-29, 2024   "I really enjoyed my time taking care of the spider plant again. For the first two weeks, the air quality was pretty much the same, though the air quality monitor took an obscenely long time to load, about 45 minutes to an hour. The third week was pretty windy, and that really reflected in the air quality indoors. The numbers on the air quality number rose drastically for a bit, but they lowered once again in the final week. I am so grateful that I got to observe the air quality and the spider plant in the final month of Let Love Grow. The program Avia and I have helped develop has superseded my wildest expectations! Thank you for working with me...

Let Love Grow: January

Happy New Year everyone! As we move into the amazing new year of 2024, we are also going to change things up for a bit. For January, rather than just taking the plant for the first week, our very own awesome Avia will be taking care of the spider plant for the whole month. Now, as you might expect, having the spider plant for a whole month instead of just a week is sure to change how Let Love Grow affects someone. Avia had some very intriguing insight on her final time taking care of the plant. This is what she had to say: January 1-31, 2024 "For week 1, it was pretty easy, and the air was starting to freshen up. In the next week, the air was better, but it was a bad week for the air in week 3, probably due to the high amounts of wind. In week 4, the air fixed up and was a lot better. Overall, the air wasn't great, but it did clean and freshen up later." We're so glad you could share your final thoughts and experiences with us, Avia! Let Love Grow has been such an ast...

Let Love Grow: Week Twenty Four

Ending off a wonderful 2023 and a whopping six months of Let Love Grow is our very own Avia C, who had this to say: December 22-28, 2023 "The plant was fun to take care of, and it made my house feel cleaner since it cleaned up the air." Thank you for aiding in the project, especially since that project is your own, Avia!
